Surprisingly, it would take Blizzard another three years to release the second installment, Heart of the Swarm, leading fans to worry that the third and final installment, set to focus on the Protoss race, would take a similar amount of time to release. The first installment known as Wings of Liberty, which focused on the Terran race, went on to become the fastest selling real-time strategy game of all time with over three million copies sold in the first month alone. Releasing twelve years after the original game in the series, StarCraft 2 became an overnight success for Blizzard as the title achieved both critical and commercial success.
